carolina’s lust
A Latina writer, Carolina, flees the chaos of city life for a quiet cabin. A place where the lines between her tumultuous past, forbidden desires, and the romance she writes blur, while reality and fiction dangerously intertwine.
THE STORY
Being raised in a religious background, Carolina has a hard time accepting herself as a sexual being. She dwells between giving in to desires and fighting her impulses, always afraid to see where that road might take her.
Willing to dig into her most sinful desires, she rents a cabin in the woods so she can write her first novel: a book based on her past fiery relationship.
The cabin, secluded in the woods, is accompanied only by a little chalet where Noah, the caretaker, resides.
As the days progress, the novel that Carolina writes becomes more and more intense, opening a door for our hero to explore forbidden urges.
Slowly fiction seems to merge into reality and the projection of repressed feelings takes Carolina to an unexpected ending.
THE STRUCTURE
Carolina is structured like a movie. There is a clear beginning, middle and end following the main characater complete arc.
Although part of a bigger series, Carolina is a self-contained product, marketable by itself, able to be submitted to festivals and distributed as soon as post-production ends.
The limited nature of the project allows production to target celebrities for the lead part, such as Alexa Demie, Jenna Ortega, and Camila Mendes.
Carolina is a film, but also a tease for an audience thirsty for more contents following the same creative line.
TONE & STYLE
The movie starts in New York’s Jackson Heights, drenched in colors, noise, heat and chaos. In the part, the cinematography will be filled with handheld movements and docustyle photography.
Once we move to the cabin, the quietness and isolation will also be translated into the screen. Contrast is the word here.
Defining silences. Handheld give way to steady and butter-like dolly movements. Colors turn into shades. Dark and ominous.
The eerie soundtrack will lead us into Carolina’s arc as she slowly falls into madness.
